ekip Launches the Knowledge Bank: Europe’s Platform for CCI Policy Innovation

The European Innovation Policy Platform for Cultural and Creative Industries, ekip, introduces a new go-to platform for practical, cross-sector innovation knowledge that puts Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) at the heart of policy transformation. Designed for policymakers, funders, creative and cultural practitioners, and innovation actors, it provides curated tools, case studies, and insights to support the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovation policies that integrate CCIs into open innovation ecosystems.

Across Europe, cultural and creative industries (CCIs) are recognised as drivers of innovation. Yet, information remains scattered, examples are fragmented, and it’s often unclear what works, where, and why. This makes it harder to design and implement policies that unlock the full potential of CCIs in innovation ecosystems.

To address this, the ekip consortium has launched the Knowledge Bank. This new online hub brings together curated tools, case studies, and strategic recommendations, offering a single place to find practical support for CCI-related innovation policies.

Innovation does not happen by chance; it is shaped through collaboration and shared insight. With the Knowledge Bank, we now have a trusted European hub that unites the perspectives of policymakers and practitioners, cutting through fragmentation and making knowledge actionable. It is a resource that will continue to guide and strengthen innovation in the cultural and creative industries for years to come.” – Johan Oomen, Head of Research and Heritage at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision

THE KNOWLEDGE BANK: A TOOL FOR POLICY INNOVATION

By cutting through outdated material and bridging fragmentation, the Knowledge Bank supports evidence-based action. It helps decision-makers connect lessons across regions, access practical instruments, and build policies that are both scalable and impactful.

The Knowledge Bank is a policy resource tool designed to be clear, contextualised, and rooted in policy needs and up-to-date developments. It is built based on structured dialogue, surveys, and ongoing user-research. The platform helps users understand the role of CCIs in innovation ecosystems. Users learn how to formulate and implement effective policies, while exploring policy recommendations and gathering insight on future directions for CCI-driven innovation at the European level.

The ekip Knowledge Bank is now accessible online, providing a trusted resource for Europe’s policymakers and ecosystem enablers seeking to harness the power of cultural and creative industries in innovation. Explore the platform at: knowledge-bank.ekipengine.eu.

ABOUT EKIP

The ekip project tackles complex innovation processes involving diverse stakeholders, recognising that collaborative policies are essential for CCIs to thrive and to address major challenges such as the Green Deal, Digital Transformation, and Inclusion.

Grounded in open innovation principles, ekip provides evidence-based policy suggestions while engaging broad stakeholder groups. Its ambition is to build a “network of networks” across CCIs in Europe and beyond, building an inclusive, pan-European community that accelerates collaboration, learning, and policy development, while connecting CCIs with other sectors.
