New European Bauhaus - Policy recommendation

Open conversation with the ekip community on Infrastructure for open innovation

This document is part of the report of the ekip Policy Corner on New European Bauhaus. Policy Corners are spaces set by ekip to allow a direct conversation with people somehow involved in CCIs, including creatives and policymakers, meant for the exchange of knowledge, the exploration and identification of challenges and opportunities for CCIs in specific policy areas, and the discussion of issues. This report includes a collection of feedback on the following policy recommendation: “Infrastructure for open innovation: leverage EU funds (e.g., EU structural funds) for the development of cross- sectoral research infrastructures, where CCI actors can experiment and test innovative ideas, in collaboration with citizens’ communities and stakeholders from other sectors.

Policy Recommendations – New European Bauhaus

The participation of CCIs in Europe’s green transition faces challenges, including limited strategic involvement, unequal partnerships, and short-term funding. The ekip Policy Lab highlights the New European Bauhaus (NEB) as a promising initiative but notes some of its constraints. To address these issues, our policy recommendations include fostering open innovation ecosystems that integrate CCIs as equal partners, enabling diverse roles through balanced funding, and leveraging CCI skills to drive transformative innovations for the green transition.
