Spaces, infrastructures, and ecosystems for CCIs

Infrastructures, spaces, and ecosystems play central roles in enabling innovation in the EU, as they provide the facilities, tools, and environments needed for experimentation, skills and knowledge transfer, and collaboration across sectors.

Current EU innovation policies prioritize technology infrastructures that support industrial, digital, and green transitions, yet Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) remain only marginally addressed within these frameworks, despite their growing digitalization and cross-sector potential. CCIs rely on a broad range of infrastructures, from makerspaces and living labs to hybrid and cultural venues, but face fragmented, uneven, and often indirect support at the EU level.

The EKIP work situates these creative infrastructures within the wider policy landscape to understand how they can be better integrated into European innovation ecosystems.
