VENUE:

Online

TIME:

March 26th 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm

DESCRIPTION:

The European Cultural and Creative Industries Innovation Policy Platform (ekip) invites you to this webinar where we will explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding inclusivity in the gaming industry.

About this webinar

The gaming industry has grown into a global cultural and economic powerhouse, spanning multiple genres, platforms, and business models. Despite its broad reach, inclusivity remains a pressing issue—both within the industry workforce and in the design of gaming experiences. Women, non-binary individuals, and marginalized groups continue to be underrepresented in game development studios, affecting not only workplace dynamics but also the diversity of narratives and perspectives in gaming content. Research suggests that fostering inclusivity leads to greater creativity and innovation, enhancing the industry’s ability to engage wider audiences and drive cultural and economic growth.

At the same time, gaming communities and in-game environments can either promote inclusivity and positive social interactions or foster toxic behaviours. By integrating inclusive design principles and ethical frameworks, games can become a powerful tool for empathy, representation, and civic engagement.

This webinar will examine how the gaming industry can evolve to be more inclusive, highlighting both the barriers that persist and the innovative strategies emerging to address them.
